Product Manager

Location: remote/telecommute in Pacific or Mountain time zone

TrueDark, by Biohacked, is a consumer products brand in the biohacking industry. Our vision is to stop junk light around the world. Our mission is to create awareness as we change the quality of manmade artificial light. This change improves the health of people and animals around the world via their ability to sleep well, resetting hormones, improved eye health and reduction of the negative impact of being surrounded 24 hours a day by damaging light from our computers, our TVs, our phones, our office lighting, and even the smoke detector in our bedrooms. New research comes out daily that shows how light can both help and harm people. We are harnessing the knowledge of this fast moving industry and converting it into use for consumers.

TrueDark has a team of experienced entrepreneurs and technologists working to fulfill the vision. We create solutions to stop junk light through research and innovative solution development. Our products are used in all 50 US states and 55 countries.

While we have a casual culture and a flexible workplace, we are also intensely passionate about what we do. The team hold each other to a high standard with values on impact, curiosity, innovation, judgement, communication, courage and selflessness.

We hire people who are awesome. Not all awesome people live in the Seattle area…so you don’t have to live in Seattle either. Ideally you’ll live in the Pacific or Mountain time zone.

TrueDark is looking for a Product Manager with a strong entrepreneurial spirit to be the product champion for the TrueDark product line.

TrueDark Product Manager Description:

You’re a self-starter who will use your lightsaber to slice through roadblocks, nimbly jump through hoops of your own creation (that may or may not be on fire, but you know how to roll with it) and you’re best buddies with the marketing and technology teams. You have a passion for how you can manifest change the world by influencing and creating solutions that take artificial light from a bad place and make it good. At social gatherings you drop terms such as “illuminance”, “chromaticity”, and “dominant wavelength” into casual conversation. Or, you’re a self-learner who is ready to master new knowledge (which will also allow you to drop technical light terms into casual conversion for fun.) You’ve successfully developed and launched products in a former life (or a former job). You think having access to EEG equipment to see how light impacts brains is all in a good day’s work.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Excellent skills in writing, documentation and reporting for various audience levels
  • General knowledge of the retail sales cycle
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team with marketing, technology, customer service and cross-organization, even if these other departments are across the world from you
