Whether you’re a super-active fitness enthusiast or just someone who occasionally deals with some achy muscles and back tightness from sitting at work, a TENS unit can be a useful tool in anyone’s biohacking toolkit. Short for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve
Stimulation, TENS can reduce pain and soreness by sending stimulating pulses across the surface of the skin and along nerve strands causing an increase in the production of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.

It’s also a great tool for stimulating muscle groups and your vagus nerve or maybe just getting a nice massage effect.

Notes from Chris: I found this unit when I was traveling in China a few months ago and immediately sent one to Dave to evaluate for the Biohacking Box. I love mine a lot! It’s a great relaxation tool along with the ability to stimulate specific areas of the body. To use it you should download the Dr Stim app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The Dr Stim app is, well, translated from Chinese — so some of the language in it is bit weird. But if you ignore some of the more humorous non-english translations you’ll find this to be a great tool to use every day.

The best Biohack box gift ever. We use this often – for me it relieves the tension in my neck, for my husband low back. Saved us hundreds of $ in massage and chiropractor visits!! A-MAZING!

Fabulous. So easy to use. No wires, and applied to rotator cuff repair that did not heal well…suspect scar tissue. Just on long hard session while working on a paper, and weeks later the should still feels 70% better. I would strongly recommend this to friends and family.

I’m sure it will be great, and then I’ll change my review. I Was very excited to get it. But I can’t get it to work! When I press the button it lights up but does not flash. If I try to choose a program in app it says it’s not connected. Any ideas?

Love it! Just like the one the chiropractor uses on me. Now I can address pain or tension immediately. App is easy to use. Love the different settings and adjustable timer. Included accounts guide is very nice and helpful.

Dave, This is the best thing EVER! I have used it daily since getting my Winter BioHack Box.

I use it so much that I think I am going to go through the pads before replacements are available on the BioHacked Site.

All my BioHack Boxes have been great, but this TENS Unit is at the top of the list of every great item in them. I am going to by more for presents right now.

Thanks Dave for sending this in BioHacked box. I have used it on my rotator cuff, on my arm to relieve carpal tunnel pain from typing. fabulous and so easy to use. No longer hooked up to the wall! I’m considering sending friends and family.

Wow I received this nerve stimulator in my biohacked box. It is fantastic. I love the Bluetooth connection no more wires. Woot woot. The stimulation is good and the phone app is cool.

I’ve seen more positive effects on my muscle asymmetry issues with this TENS unit in a couple of days than I’ve had in a year of massage and other therapy. My situation is unusual, but it’s a testament to the power of this device.

This is by far my favorite biohacking tool I’ve used so far (and I’ve used a lot!).
